Quotes (213)

george-whitfield.jpg First, then, before you can speak peace to your hearts, you must be made to see, made to feel, made to weep over, made to bewail, your actual transgressions against the law of God.

  1. How tragic that many within evangelical circles have this the other way around or worse yet, have ignored the wisdom of the words found above.

Far too many syrupy wolves are speaking from the pulpit supposedly on behalf of the Sovereign of the Universe. All the while speaking smooth sounding platitudes of peace and prosperity, yet they leave off the importance of the law of God.

The Lord Jesus Christ did NOT come to this earth to bring peace, but a sword. He did not come to bring wealth and prosperity. He came with the purpose of being the Lamb slain from before the foundation of the world! He did this and became our sinbearer because of our wicked transgressions, not because we have a need to feel good about ourselves.

Would that more would heed the words found in this quote, and would through the aid of the Holy Spirit be made to see their transgressions, be made to feel the overwhelming sense of separation because of their transgressions, be made to weep over the fact that it was our sins that Jesus Christ bore, be made to bewail over the grossness and the depravity of the heart of man.

It is the eternal law of God which makes us realize how vast was the gulf which separated us from the holiness of God. Those who choose to flippantly walk through this life thinking they are one of Christ’s while living like the evil one should examine the Scriptures and find that with true belief and a faith in Christ comes a change and an abhorrence of our sin. NO CHANGE = NO LIFE!!

    Thankful for mercy and grace,
    The Desert Pastor
