  1. Heard it live; fantastic message!

  2. Reblogged this on Truth2Freedom's Blog.

  3. But Lawson promotes the false ‘doctrine’ of Lordship Salvation and it infuses everything that is taught! :-(

  4. “false ‘doctrine’ of Lordship Salvation” – How so??

  5. Good old Steve Lawson

  6. Andrew, I am not sure how you would define “Lordship Salvation”, but we at Defending Contending would not be in disagreement with Steve Lawson.

  7. Where do the scriptures teach that the pastor led model is correct? I would appreciate a serious exegetical piece of 1 Cor. 14: 26-40. Starting with 26…When you come together, EACH ONE has a hymn, a lesson…..for edification. The one man show model is not found here. All were to exercise, to fan into flame, the gifts they were given not some solo act. The current pastor led model lends greatly to quenching all the other gifts of the body. History will show that the Protestant reformers merely copied this style from the RCC, not from scripture. Each one has a hymn also teaches against these Hollywood song and dance productions, this so called worship time. Two or three to speak in tounges, was also not a solo act. The principle of 2 or 3 remains weather the signs gifts remain or do not remain. The cessation of the gifts was not the cessation of this command from the Lord when we gather together. Again two or three prophets speak forth, one by one, not some look at me solo act. Not only does this teach against a solo act it clearly instructs co-equals to “weigh what is said”. They are instructed to weigh it on the spot during the service. This is clearly in keeping the well established biblical principle of accountability. (there would be no TBN)
Then the grand finally from Paul 37 ,,,he should acknowledge that what I am writing you is A COMMAND OF THE LORD. 38 if ANY ONE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS, HE IS NOT RECOGNIZED’ It is obvious that this command from the Lord is to be accepted and exercised. Any one who rejects this is then disqualified.
I would also point out that 40 is not some magic verse that cancels this command from the Lord. : but all things should be done decently and in order. This instruction assumes that the afore mention style of coming together can be done decently and in order.
Some will try to set this passage aside and argue the Paul’s preaching and teaching was a solo act. I would agree that Paul the Apostle was a solos act. This only proves how an apostle should preach not mere elders. Although many elders act like they are apostles. By obeying this command of the Lord it would eliminate a host of errors brought on by a host of hirelings. hirelings are men who call themselves to the pulpit. Men who love the seat of honor. Were they tested as commanded on the spot it would eliminate the introduction of dangerous false doctrines by these hirelings.
Where do the scriptures instruct that a elder/pastor is to be paid according to the worldly CEO business model? Sine a worthy widow is to be compensated with a single honor amount, then a double honor amount should only be twice what a widow gets.
Does the current pastor led service recognize this command of the Lord?
