  1. Joe says:

I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the Lord , do all these things. “You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the Lord , have created it. (Isaiah 45:7, 8 NIV)

That was an excellent pod cast and I hope more of your readers will listen to it?

I spent a couple of weeks and a few days more in Sweden some years ago and witnessed a similar phenomenon as that going on right now in Norway. I would do street preaching training some on fire Swedes to follow my example. The thing I did not expect and I suppose Tony and Shane (already) will and have experienced is the foreigners who are exiled there gather and listen to the Gospel and engage in dialog and debate after the preaching is finished?

I was amazed at the gathering of Pakistanies and others from other Islamic countries willing to talk about Christ and Christianity there.

I use to walk around my own communities with a large wooden cross. Our rule was we would not speak unless spoken too first. How does Tony do it?

One time in Japan we were walking around the streets of Chiba and came to an open air farmer’s market near Disney World. The Spirit of Grace and Power manifested so greatly you could cut the air with a knife. As I stood there at this intersection I could these Japanese folks, a thousand or so of them just standing there looking at us and watching! It was wonderful. I highly recommend getting on the streets with a wooden cross and just walk around. You won’t have to wait long before someone will engage you in conversation, some pleasant and some not so!

Finally, I would take slight issue with Tony as to the understanding of why that shooting happened? If ever you have an opportunity in the near future to discuss it and why a 20 year old would do such a thing I would point to something in Scripture and build from it as the Spirit leads. There are two promises, of many in this vein, I would paste that seems to help people come to some grip with this blantant reality even if they cannot comprehend it?

    The promises are these:

“Heb 2:10 For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.
Heb 2:11 For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers,
Heb 2:12 saying, “I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.”
Heb 2:13 And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again, “Behold, I and the children God has given me.”
Heb 2:14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
Heb 2:15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.

1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. ”

I try to make the connection to that “righteousness” and the practice of of it with the devil. I want people to hear these promises, that is, the devil is going to be destroyed and so are all his works.

That young man clearly was practicing wickedness as you so forcefully said in the broadcast. Wickedness is the devil’s work and we are all party to it. None of us can claim innonence no matter how we feel about ourselves!

At the end of the day the devil will be destroyed and we can cling to that promise and we can lift it up publically however we are led to do that lifting up?

Finally I would spin “practicing” His Righteousness from these Words from Daniel making the connection that in order for us to get out of this world to God’s Holy and Righteous Kingdom, out of this fallen world controlled by the god of this world, we too have to die, however that comes about, God knows:
“Dan 12:2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Dan 12:3 And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. ”

In any event that was an edifying radio program hitting the nails on their heads!
