Is Joseph Smith the gateway to heaven?

Joseph Fielding SmithAbsolutely amazing blasphemies from the Mormon church:
“[There is] “no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith. If Joseph Smith was verily a prophet, and if he told the truth…no man can reject that testimony without incurring the most dreadful consequences, for he cannot enter the kingdom of God” -Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, p.190
George Q. Cannon
“If we get our salvation, we shall have to pass by Joseph Smith; if we enter our glory, it will be through the authority he has received. We cannot get around him.” -1988 Melchizedek Priesthood Study Guide, p. 142, Apostle George Q. Cannon
Brigham Young

“He that confesseth not that Jesus has come in the flesh and sent Joseph Smith with the fullness of the Gospel to this generation, is not of God, but is anti-christ.” -Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 9, p.312

“No man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith…every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are… [Joseph Smith] reigns there as supreme a being in his sphere, capacity, and calling, as God does in heaven. Many will exclaim—”Oh, that is very disagreeable! It is preposterous! We cannot bear the thought!” But it is true.” -Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p.289-91

Gordon B. Hinckley

“Our entire case as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints rests on the validity of this glorious First Vision. … Nothing on which we base our doctrine, nothing we teach, nothing we live by is of greater importance than this initial declaration. I submit that if Joseph Smith talked with God the Father and His Beloved Son, then all else of which he spoke is true. This is the hinge on which turns the gate that leads to the path of salvation and eternal life.” -Gordon B. Hinckley, Ensign Mag., Nov. 1998, pp.70-71

Orson Hyde

“I tell you, Joseph holds the keys, and none of us can get into the celestial kingdom without passing by him. We have not got rid of him, but he stands there as the sentinel, holding the keys of the kingdom of God; and there are many of them beside him. I tell you, if we get past those who have mingled with us, and know us best, and have a right to know us best, probably we can pass all other sentinels as far as it is necessary, or as far as we may desire. But I tell you, the pinch will be with those that have mingled with us, stood next to us, weighed our spirits, tried us, and proven us: there will be a pinch, in my view, to get past them. The others, perhaps, will say, If brother Joseph is satisfied with you, you may pass. If it is all right with him, it is all right with me. Then if Joseph shall say to a man, or if brother Brigham say to a man, I forgive you your sins, “Whosoever sins ye remit they are remitted unto them;” if you who have suffered and felt the weight of transgression—if you have generosity enough to forgive the sinner, I will forgive him: you cannot have more generosity than I have. I have given you power to forgive sins, and when the Lord gives a gift, he does not take it back again.” -Apostle Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, p.154-155

But what saith the eternal Word of God?

1 Timothy 2:5

For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

  1. But don’t you know that the Bible is only as good as it is “correctly translated”? Trouble is, those passages read the exact same in Joseph Smith’s “translation.” Go figure.

  2. Joseph Smith is no more the Gateway to Heaven than my dog is the pope. Or that Led Zeppelin knew about the stairway to Heaven. Man is easily deceived and all who believe the untenable tale of Mormonism.

  3. Joseph Smith, Jr. courtesy of Mormonism Research Ministry.

  4. MRM is one of the best out there; I have several of McKeever’s books and have attended many classes under his teaching at apologetics conferences; and it’s one we regularly support. Can’t recommend them enough.

I’m currently posting Smith’s false prophecies, a few at a time. No one’s bit yet.

  5. You know, it never ceases to amaze me that these quotes exist and that these men (and other LDS followers) actually believe this stuff in spite of what God’s word has to say about it.

While others in the LDS faith will say that these type of quotes are actually just the opinion of the people and not offical church doctrine (although the church for the most part teaches these same principles at church each sunday).

I tried to share with my LDS family about the LDS view of God having actual physical relations with Mary to conceive Jesus and they said that was ridiculous and that the church did NOT believe that. I told them the information was coming from LDS historical books by their prophets but they still didn’t listen.

The veil blinding them is very strong! More prayer needed for sure! Thank you for sharing!

  6. Dear CD:
    Thanks for the link.

    Dear Nicole:
    It’s true.
Mormons simply dismiss any of the damaging teachings as “that was just their opinion.” I recently published a post soundly refuting this illogical defense here:

    It’s true.
Mormon leaders have taught the blasphemous doctrine of the LDS god having sexual relations with his own daughter to conceive Jesus.

  7. Anyone who has read history, and actual historical accounts of the birth of Mormonism, and the actions of its early “church” fathers, will not doubt what you say. Anyone who knows the Word of God will not doubt what you say. Unfortunately we have a Biblical famine of epic proportions going on among those who claim Christ. They are starving “to death” because of a lack of the Bread of Life, who is Christ, and the Word of God, which is meat and drink to all who wish to know Christ.

It is amazing the depth of deception among even those who claim Christ, both about Mormonism and about Islam. Fascinating that both of these man-made religions were conceived in a cave, by single individuals, neither of whom were men of good character, and that they were “met” by angels (great disguises), who disgorged their versions of “new scriptures” to lead their followers with. Both were men of violence and sexual promiscuity. Both were contemptuous of the Christian churches, and the faith handed down by the apostles to us in Scripture. Both claimed equality with Christ, and so are the very definition of an anti-Christ as shown us in Scripture.

Yet among so-called believers in Christ today, there exists a placating, sentimental attitude of “live and let live” about these false gospels that claim millions of adherents. Both stand opposed to those who follow Christ alone, and will take every opportunity to deny us the ability to live our Christian faith in peace if given power over us. While Mohammed calls for the outright elimination of Christians and Jews repeatedly in his rambling discourses in the Koran, Joseph Smith more subtly claims to supplant Christ as the gatekeeper to heaven. Read the early history of Mormonism, and its violent suppression of Christians who came within its “national borders”.

Time for all who follow Jesus in Spirit and Truth to take the stand you’ve taken here. Good work. Call lies lies. Call deception deception. And prepare to be opposed by the general “Christian” population, who are unwilling to face any unpleasantness these days. They remind me of the German Christians, who ignored and downplayed Hitler’s stances on issues, and the obvious trends, and chose the path of least resistance. However, not many years later, many of these people were agonizing their compromise, both in conscience, and in practicality, as they became unwilling slaves to the Nazi party upon fear of death, which they were not willing to face for Christ.

Blessings on all who follow Christ today, with unstinting compromise and unremitting love.

  8. A. Brother.
One thing here in error: Joseph’s religion was not conceived in a cave. Joseph found the plates in a box in the ground, not a cave.
