Something’s not right here. How were they able to videotape in the bookstore? Usually, businesses won’t let people record for anything on their property, let alone someone who is against the business.

Also, the Mormon bookstore is selling Harry Potter right next to the Mormon knockoff?

Dramatic effect is OK, and even encouraged; claiming that you are doing something that you are not doing is not OK.

    …and you know this how?

Well, the commandment against lying is where I start, or did you mean how do I know they are claiming to be in a Mormon bookstore? They are saying they are in a Mormon bookstore and going on a tour.

How do you know they aren’t?

I mean… you’ve already labeled them liars. Just because you THINK they MIGHT be.

They pulled off filming some clips in a Utah bookstore… Not exactly Mission Impossible caliber.

You need to back off from any further railing accusations that are baseless.

If you’ve got some evidence, let’s see it. Otherwise, stand down.

Jeff: Please read what I wrote. I do not know beyond a reasonable doubt that they are misrepresenting themselves. It is possible that they are filming clips in a Mormon bookstore. However, by preponderance of the evidence, which means “more likely than not”, I conclude that this is not an actual Mormon bookstore that they are taping in. My basis is the fact that it does not make sense.

The quality of the footage, combined with the posing and unstealth-like commentary tells me that this was not done secretively. So either they snuck in when nobody was looking or the store knew they were taping and did not stop them. This is theoretically possible, but would make the taping stand out even more. Then there’s the bad business sense of the actual Harry Potter books on display right next to the Harry Potter knock-offs, also on display; sure was convenient for the bookstore to put the two in the same spot for the taping.

So let’s look at the possibilities. One of these is true: all of the store’s employees are morons (which is possible), the people taping broke in, their secret filming equipment is higher quality than FBI surveillance AND the people working there didn’t notice someone talking into the camera in an almost empty store, the people taping lied about who they were in order to get the footage, or this video is a dramatic re-enactment. In absence of all other evidence, I believe the only one of these that makes sense.

    Then STOP ACCUSING THEM.

Before you post a railing accusation in a public place (this blog) you should contact them first (as we are instructed to in Scripture), and work your way up if/as necessary.

Remember what Paul wrote to the Church in Corinth:

“This is the third time I am coming to you. Every charge must be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses.” (2 Corinthians 13:1)

all of the store’s employees are morons

Calling someone a moron or fool is pretty close to Matthew 5:22 territory…
