The American Dream is NOT for Christians!

I was overwhelmed as I heard this brief clip. David Platt, pastor The Church at Brook Hills, is correct as he ministers in a way that is not designed to tickle itching ears. Being a true Christian demands radical obedience to the commands of Christ. It is from the cross, and NOT from a bed of roses, that Jesus Christ calls us to leave ALL and follow Him!

I would highly recommend the following message that David Platt preached at T4G 2010, entitled An Unadjusted Gospel in an Unreached World.

  1. I have read Pastor Platt’s book Radical. It was an excellent and convicting read. There are still too many people who haven’t heard the good news of Jesus’ death on the cross to save them from their sins. There are so many hurting souls that need to hear the good news that Jesus loves them.

  2. My goal for me and my family is not to live for the American dream, but to live and die for the cause of Christ.

  3. We’re doing his book at our church.

  4. Amen Pilgrim. Our only reason on this planet is to proclaim God’s truth for His glory alone. Funny how so many so called Christians miss that simple truth.

  5. Dear RevivalandReformation:

So many miss it because they’re distracted with sports, video games, television, entertainment, politics, and all the other trappings of the American Dream.

  6. Yes, you are right there, Pilgrim. It’s saddening, shocking and scary how “Christians”, as they like to be called can sit amongst 18,000 screaming fans and watch a hockey/baseball/football game and not even think for one second about the souls around them stumbling toward eternal hell. You can even confront them and ask them if they thought about praying or witnessing to someone while they were there and they will actually get mad and defensive. Some will say, but that’s not the environment, well then if that’s the case, the Christian shouldn’t be there in the first place.
