I am often reminded of a hint of God’s power whenever a thunderstorm rolls through. This particular storm was in Chicago, several hundred miles from my hometown. The photos are from the dailymail site and are too good to pass up…

“When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, And He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain, And brings out the wind from His storehouses.” Jeremiah 10:13

There are two things I love in photography, lighthouses and lightning storms! Awesome pics. Last year we had a once in twenty years storm where for about four hours, we had a lightning strike every ten seconds or so. It was amazing to watch. I got right out there and enjoyed the storm until I felt the hair raising up on my arms, so I decided to go inside! Ha! But it was something to watch.
Another awesome display of God’s power and majesty! Thanks so much for sharing these.
When our kids were young, we lived north of Dallas. Every summer – for 13 years – we would sit on our porch and watch the Lord command the storms to crack thunder and lightening in our sky. What an awesome God!
I use to very much be into photography and had a lot of camera gear. Unfortunately a number of years ago I bought a pro film camera just before the digital revolution. Go figure; timing is everything! As a result of this, and just lack of time, I sold most of my gear.
I do believe photography (sans Photoshop manipulation) is really a wonderful means to capture the beauty of God’s creation and to dispel the foolishness of evolutionary thought. It allows you to freeze in a moment of time scenes and images that otherwise would pass by in the blink of an eye, or be otherwise obscured by other objects in the given scene.
Seeing posts like this more often would be nice especially with the accompanying Scriptures.
And, I feel inspired to burn some federal reserve notes and buy a digital camera…
Awesome God!
Bro Michael…two words…CraigsList!
God is awesome! Just think that the Bible says that Jesus created all of this and sustains it with His power. While He broke bread to fed the 5000, He was making sure the monarch butterfly was migrating on time. When He was washing the disciples feet, He was making sure a baby was growing the right amount of bones in a mother’s womb in China. When His life was ebbing away as He hung on the cross, He was making sure that the moon was just close enough to keep the tides coming in and going out just right on the Pacific Ocean in an area 2000 years later would become Vancouver, BC. What a Saviour, what a God!
Lyn: Thank you for the great pics.
revivalandreformation: Thanks for the great reminder.
amazingly, it struck all three high points in Chicago at once: http://newine.wordpress.com/2010/06/27/three-strikes/
