The Death of an Unbeliever

I work in a nursing home, I see the elderly drugged daily because of pain, or behavioral issues. Several have passed away since I started working there, they depart in silence, largely due to the influence of drugs. I ponder what would it be like if they were not under the influence of drugs, which leads me to this question—What happens when an unbeliever faces his/her own death. Here is an account of the death of an atheist…

What’s sad these days is so many evangelicals fail at funerals of reprobates. The norm is to pretend they were good and in Heaven either because they said a prayer at 8 years or because the preacher can’t bear to bring truth to the grieving family and tells those who yet breath that God’s saving grace is universal.

One of my elders recently buried one of his grand fathers and the local “pastor” “comforted” the family by praising “god” for receiving the dead man into “heaven”. My elder told us there was no evidence of his grand father’s alleged salvation and he had to stand (in his turn) and deliver the gospel of the narrow gate, hard path, small crowd. It was not a pleasant situation for anyone.

If hell be not real, neither is heaven. Liars rarely think their lies all the way through.
