For those unfamiliar with Michael Youssef; he seems to be a straight shooter who preaches the word without compromise. He preached at National Broadcasters convention a couple of years ago with a robust and challenging message. It's on sermon index I think"The Power of Weeping"for those who want to check him out.

Al Mohler done a good critique on this book as well. I pointed my former pastor to it when he reommended I attend the small group class my old church was doing on the Shack.

I am waiting to see if there is some type of crazy doctrine, error, or heresy being taught at the new church I am attending. So far it seems too good to be true.

I've heard Michael Youssef's sermons a few times on a local radio station; they're about the only ones I listen to, besides John Macarthur. I've been a little bit cautious about relatively unknown pastors who have radio shows, as Iam just now learning how important discernment is... will have to check him out again.

Not familiar with Michal Youseff, but he does well to remind his people to test his sermons in light of Scripture. That's refreshing - especially for a large church such as his.

His message about the dangers of this evil book are spot-on.

His description of the ditch that people are being led to fall into and the attending dangers thereof reminded me of a motorcycle ride through Alabama: "As I was enjoying the beautiful road and scenery, it dawned on me that the lush carpet of kudzu was merely camouflaging the deadly rocks that await the careless rider who wanders off the road. Focus! The lines are your friend. As much as I marvel at kudzu – it will cover you up if you sit still for long – I failed to stop and take a picture of this Japanese weed as it continues in its march to completely blanket the southeast United States."

So is the oft-subtle deception of Satan - looks good, leads to destruction.

But I wonder how "the Shack" (or myriad other books) can look good to the one who is a new creature in Christ.
