With all due respect – This is total rubish, you are saying that “His word” is weak and unpowerful when compared to the drug created by man? My God is awesome, powerful and in full control. Drugs are not from God and are therefore much less powerful.
No drink or drugs influence will stop my Saviour from speaking to people when He desires and knowning my place, I am not here to tell The Lord who and when he can and cannot speak to people.
As an evangelist I have worked for years in the area of addiction and many of my conversations have started when someone is under the influence of alcohol or hard drugs. By the power of the Holy Ghost these people can be instantly sobered and are more than capable of very coherant conversation.
To be honest, most of these internet forums are much less coherant :-)

One must have a clear mind in order to comprehend the Gospel. Being under the influence of a mind altering drug negates comprehension.
The bigness of God has nothing to do with it; His word does not penetrate a mind under the hallucinating influence of drugs.

Forgive me for sounding sarcastic, but did you not read this post? Did you not read the article I linked to in this post?

John Crowder is quoted in this article as saying:

“I was a party guy at college and became an alcoholic within the first year, sometimes downing up to 36 beers in a single day. I also did recreational drugs and during an LSD trip in a bar I had a profound encounter with God. I knew that if I went to sleep that night without changing my ways, I would surely die. When I sobered up I stopped doing drugs and became devoted to Jesus. Now I want people to see that church isn’t dour and dreary. It is an awareness of the mystical, fun and joyful nature of God.”

Again, not trying to sound sarcastic, but what part of that quote didn’t bother you?

If you still fail to see what’s wrong with Crowder and Dunn after perusing those posts, then there’s nothing I could possibly say to you in this combox that will convince you otherwise.

Actually, what these Scriptures show us is that our lives should be so different from the world that those who see us can know, without a doubt, that we belong to Christ. Which is what Paul meant when he told Timothy that he must “have a good testimony to those who are outside”–that is, an overseer must have credibility even among those who do not believe. Because, if even the unbelieving person respects him, then he is a man whose life is a witness for Christ.

And this is the key: if we are saved, then we will live a life whose main goal is to bring glory to God in the midst of a sin-filled world. We FIRST glorify God, and walk in righteousness and holiness, and shun the vulgar and profane things of this world. The result of this will be that, as Jesus said, many will see our good works and glorify our Father in Heaven.

You are right, our FIRST goal should not be to worry about what the world thinks of our following and obeying Christ. However, we must be careful not to embrace the sinful things of this world, because if we do we will give those who see us the idea that a Christian can continue in sin, and approve of sin, and that we we approve of those who are opposed to God.

The scriptures you quote rather show our “not so obvious/external” attitude towards Father – and ONLY then, will these fruit be visible in our life.

If our primary focus is to fulfill these scriptures, we are doing life the wrong way round…and will consequently ‘work’ our selfs to death, whilst missing God (intimate relationship with: Father, Christ & HS) and thinking our selfs wrongly, righteous.

1st Timothy 3:2-7–A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach…not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Philippians 2:14-15–Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.

Matthew 5:16–”Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Before Tatted Todd and his pet Angel Emma started their sideshow in Lakeland, Tokin-the-Ghost Crowder was at the top of the list of “Crazy Preachers”. I am not surprised to learn his theology came by way of Lysergic Acid — he must never have come down off his acid trip. And it looks like he got a bad batch on top of everything.

Never point the finger at “DEMONS!” when hallucinogenic drugs will do.
