Shocking Honesty

For once I don’t want to over-analyze this. I just want to enjoy it for what Brit Hume said. It is shockingly frank and shockingly great for someone on TV to say something like this. Tiger Woods needs to turn to the Christian faith. He needs his sins forgiven more than he needs his next breath. I thank Brit Hume for his political incorrectness and truthfulness.

Mark Cahill has witnessed to Tiger Woods, so we know that the biblical seed of the gospel has been planted, and we can pray for it to grow.

  1. Wow! Truth from a major news outlet – woulda thunk?

Now, I know some prosperity pimp will try to claim Tiger Woods so they can prop him up for testimonies to the unsuspecting public who want manna rather than Christ.

Let those who care about Tiger Woods pray for his repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus – that Christ would claim him as His own. And then for Tiger Woods to be insulated from fame for a time so he would be properly discipled.

  2. I hate to look at the glass half empty but, if Tiger did convert to “christianity” it would probably be to the “purpose driven” or “best life now” or even worse “Benny Hinn’ed” variety.

  3. After I listened, my wife found me on the floor and had to poke me a few times with a sharp stick to see if I was ok.

It was just so refreshing to hear Christianity spoken of in this way, instead of using Christ as a news-pinata or simply mocking Christians and our faith.

While faithfulness to my wife is not an issue, I’m certainly as sinful and morally bankrupt as Mr. Woods. I’m not a sports enthusiast and I watch perhaps an hour of tv per year, so I am quite ignorant of much of the Woods family hype.

Suffice it to say that Mr. Hume is quite correct in that there is no forgiveness of sin through ANYONE other than Christ. However, I pray that Mr. Woods would know that Jesus can and will forgive ALL sins past, present, and future through repentance and faith (in Christ ALONE).

Again, while the Bible is clear that the world is in the lap of the Devil, I rejoiced for a moment that Mr. Hume spoke the way he did.

    All glory to God,
    – Jeff

  4. I was very disappointed when I first learned of his affairs. Thank you for this video! True words were definitely spoken!

  5. That really was an encouragement to hear him say that Tiger needed to turn to the Christian faith and seek forgiveness. Maybe he will…

  6. Interesting that my Pastor said the same thing and said we must pray for him. It is sad what happened to Tiger and his family; even worse to think of the cover-up that must have happened from some of the corporations that endorsed him…. but even Tiger cannot escape God’s wrath. God is not mocked; sin will find you out. I will pray that Tiger remembers what Mark Cahill told him and that God will instill in him a hunger and a thirst to know more.

  7. Three cheers for Brit Hume for having the courage to tell the truth!

  8. On national tv. Wow!!1 don’t hear stuff like that usually.

  9. Wow, this is amazing! I’m one of many saints praying for Tiger and his family. God is merciful, faithful and will lead Tiger to Christ and Christ alone~

  10. That was great BUT, what was even better was his expanded explanation and defense of his comment on The O’Reilly Factor tonight. I have posted it on my blog here:

    http://notallowed2laff.blogspot.com/2010/01/unbelievable-and-shocking-interview.html

    This was unbelievable.

  11. Thanks DC for the video and also to Ralph for the follow-up video, This man spoke with conviction and truth. Thought it was great!

  12. ExPatMatt,

The problem is that this is a site for defending and contending of the Christian faith. When people come here with questions about their own faith or are searching for the truth, we have no issues allowing them to post as can be readily seen.

However, when people come here with their minds made up and have no desire to learn the truth they generally only want another wide forum (such as DefCon) to spew either their hatred against God, against the Bible, or against His people.

You are welcome to submit comments, but be fully aware that based on your previous answers you appear to fall into the latter category of people who come to DefCon. Therefore, your comments are being and will continue to be moderated.

  13. “Love Not The World”

”For the WHOLE world(not just a portion) is under the control of the evil one”…….(I John 5:19)

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world will pass away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of The Only True GOD will abide for ever.” (I John 2:15-17)

“If you were of the world, the world would love it’s own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his Master. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also.” (John 15:19-20)

“Where do wars and fighting among you come from? Do they not come of your lusts that war in your members? You lust, and have not: you kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: you fight and war yet you have not, because you ask not. You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts. You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is to be at enmity with The Only True GOD? Therefore whoever will be a friend of the world is the enemy of The Only True GOD.” (James 4:1-4)

“The world cannot hate you; but the world hates Me, because I testify that the works of this world are evil.” (John 7:7)” and “The Messiah gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of The Only True God, Our Father.”(Gal 1:4)

The Messiah testified: “If the world hates you know that it hated Me before it hated you.”(John 5:18) Truly, Truly, I say unto you, except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone: but if it die it brings forth much fruit. He that loves his life in this world shall lose it; and he that hates his life in this world shall have it unto life eternal.” (John 12:24-25)

John testified: “Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hates you.” (I John 3:13) “ James testified, “Whoever would be a friend of this world is the enemy of GOD”(James 4:4)

The “earth and it’s life forms” are The Creation of The Only True GOD, Father of ALL! The “worldly” systems are the creation of, and under the dominion of “the god of this world”, he who is “the father of lies”, he who “has blinded the minds of those who believe not The Messiah”! All the nations of this world are under the dominion of, and serve, the evil one for he provides the fuel that feeds mankind’s “imag”ination, and mankind’s “imagination is destroying Creation(land, air, water, vegetation, creatures) and perverting that which is Spirit(Light, Truth, Life, Love, Peace, Faith, Simplicity, Wisdom, .etc.) ;-(

Once again, the “earth and it’s life forms” are The Creation of The Only True GOD, Father of ALL! The current “worldly” systems are the creation of, and under the dominion of “the god of this world”.

Those who “love this world” all serve “the god of this world”, and play their part in the processes that seek to destroy The Creation of The Only True GOD. “And The Only True GOD will destroy them who destroy the earth.” (Rev 11:18c)

Global warming, polluted air, land and waters, toxic wastes, sexual perversion, evil inventions of destruction, greed, hate, carnal warfare, dis-ease ,,,etc,,, are all destructive processes that have their root in “the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life”.

The Truth Is Alive in those who have been born of The Spirit for “they no longer love this wicked, evil world and it’s things, nor do they love their own lives in this world”.

They but seek and desire The Will of GOD, their Father and Creator, as they await their final transformation. “Corruptible to Incorruptible” ndeed and Truth!

Now “the ground was cursed for Adam’s sake” because he “hearkened unto the woman”.

Adam listened to a woman rather than obeying The Only True GOD. Yet because of Faithful Noah, The Only True GOD “no longer would curse the ground for man’s sake” because Noah obeyed The Only True GOD! (Genesis 8:21-22)

And the Faithful today are exhorted to “love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.”

Be not of those who deny and defy “The One GOD, Father of All”. Be not of those who are destroying Creation(land, air, water, vegetation, creatures) and perverting that which is Spirit(Light, Truth, Life, Love, Peace, Hope, Mercy, Faith, .etc.)!

“Set your affections on things above”. Desire heavenly, eternal things. Quit serving ‘time’ in the prison that is this world and take heed unto The Call of “The Only True GOD” to ”Come Out of her, MY people!”

“Come out” from among those who are destroying Creation and perverting that which is Spirit. Be of those who follow The Messiah on “The Way to The Truth of The Life”.

“Come out” of the worldly systems, which are the product of mankind’s “imag”ination, especially the systems of religion. “Pure religion and undefiled before GOD The Father is this, to visit the fatherless(those who know not their Father[Creator]) and widows(those who have not experienced The Messiah and The Power that raised Him from among the dead”) in their affliction and to keep oneself uncontaminated by the world.” (James 1:27)

Simply, all other religions are impure, defiled and of this wicked, evil world…….

    “religion” is personal(oneself), not corporate…….

Faith will not create a system of religion!

Faith is Family, not “religion”, and The Brethren of The Messiah seek and desire that which The Messiah sought and desired above all else:

“Father, not My will, But THY Will Be Done”…….

Peace, in spite of the dis-ease(no-peace) that is of this world and it’s systems of religion, for “the WHOLE world(not just a portion) is under the control of the evil one” indeed and Truth……

    Truth is never ending…….

  14. I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand, it’s nice to see the Christian faith proclaimed in a positive light and yet doesn’t go overboard and start to ring with prosperity overtones. On the other hand, however, it almost has a ring of pragmatism to it. It almost sounded as if its something a salesman would say to someone shopping for a religion. Now Buddhism has this for you but on the other hand over here, Christianity can offer you forgiveness and redemption.

We shouldn’t follow Christianity because its appealing to us or because we like what it has to offer, we should follow Christianity because it is the truth! God is the truth and we want to follow the one and true God. A false god may offer all kinds of things that are more appealing to us but we shouldn’t follow him instead.

I hope that I’m not being nit-picky on this issue and I apologize if I am doing so. I think sometimes that we are so used to Christianity being bashed in the media that if someone says anything that hints as not being against it we want to rejoice. Again, I’m not trying to be mean spirited but to seek a healthy balance in all of it.

May it all be for His glory!

  15. Wade,

You make a good point. Truthfully, none of us can choose Christ. In the longer segment on the O’Reilly show, Hume gets closer to the truth. But the bottom line, only those called can “choose” to come to the Lord Jesus. From a human perspective, it looks like we do choose Jesus, but the Word is clear that we are born dead in sin and must be dragged to new life by the Spirit of God – we are, by nature, enemies of God and cannot love Him or choose Him without first being lvoed and chosen by Him.

  16. Manfred,

I completely agree with everything you have said; I didn’t mean for my post to sound Armenian in any way. Without wanting to step into God’s territory on how He does things and rely on speculation, I do think its possible that God has allowed Tiger to have been brought down as a way to “draw” him to Himself (if it is in God’s will to save him). Proverbs 16:9 talks about how in his heart, a man plans his way or his course but God directs his steps. Regardless of how Tiger has planned his life, he is ultimately where he is at per God directing his steps. Perhaps someone else who use to look up to Tiger will take notice of all of this and reflect upon his own life and through all of that God may open his heart to the truth so he may receive the Holy Spirit.

Regardless of what happens, it is God that is sovereign and in that we can take comfort. Perhaps Brit Humes’ statement instantaneously sowed seed all across the nation with a great number of people irrespective of any influence it may or may not have on Tiger.

God is glorious and His ways are higher than ours!

    God bless.

  17. Wade, I did not infer you were endorsing anything Arminian :-) I simply wanted to clearly state the delineation between that heresy and Biblical salvation.

  18. Manfred,

There’s never anything wrong with wanting to clear things up :-)

    Thank you for replies. :-)

  19. The latest wrinkle in this whole affair comes from Ann Coulter in her article posted today on Townhall.com. Read it here: http://townhall.com/columnists/AnnCoulter/2010/01/06/if_you_can_find_a_better_deal,_take_it!

It is amazing; it is astounding. Now I have four reasons to love Ann Coulter.

  20. I wouldn’t jump on the Coulter bandwagon just yet. She seems to be speaking of a gospel that is quick and easy. For example, she says, ‘You can be washing the dishes or walking your dog or just sitting there minding your business hating Susan Sarandon and accept that God sent his only son to die for your sins and rise from the dead … and you’re in!’ The Bible is very clear, we are saved by grace. Salvation is God’s gift, as is faith. We add NOTHING to the equation; all of mankind is dead in sin and unable to repsond spiritually to the things of God unless God enables us to do so. There is nothing ‘easy’ about salvation, God has predestined before the foundation of the world who would be saved, and He brings them into His kingdom at the appointed time He has set.
Ann also makes this off the wall claim, ‘If you do that, every rotten, sinful thing you’ve ever done is gone from you. You’re every bit as much a Christian as the pope or Billy Graham.’ Based on the erroneous teachings of the RCC, I would NOT call the pope a ‘Christian’. Billy Graham has also made several suspect statements concerning easy believism and God’s ‘wider mercy’.
The gate is narrow, the way is narrow. Not everything that sounds legit is.

  21. I am also skeptical about this!

  22. unworthy1,

Unfortunately when it comes to politics, there is no concern for any kind of theological discernments. Sean Hannity is Catholic and twists scripture with his famous “Let not your heart be troubled” tag, Ann Coulter along with Rush Limbaugh occasionally mention God from time to time and with that these Conservative media representatives are painted as being Christian and therefore Christians should embrace their rhetoric; or at least that is the line of reasoning. With absolutely no concern for doctrine, Conservatives were supposed to whole heartily embrace Mitt Romney because he is a man of faith; never mind his is the Mormon faith.

God, as represented in the modern political arena has become so homogenized so that there can be political unity in the Conservative Party, that only haters of structured religion along with ardent atheist/agnostics cannot jump on the Conservative bandwagon if they have a somewhat republican mindset/ideology. In other words, if you can agree with the Republican party ideology, doctrine IS NOT going to be a dividing force that will prevent potential supporters along with current supporters from supporting Republican political agendas, etc. It appears that there is no real love for the truth as long as political agendas can be met. Anyone that stands up for the truth will most likely be told to sit down and to not rock the boat because in the political world, political allegiance is more important than alliance with God.
