Good post.
Sad too.
What does a flock do when their shepherd has been taken from them, and the new "shepherd" wants to feed them watered down milk when they were used to feasting on the fatted calf?

Very good article.

"The phrase “itching ears” (v.3) graphically describes them. Their ears “itch” to hear something pleasant – words that will soothe them in their cocoons of transgression rather than convict of wrong and warn of danger. So these verses speak both to the person sitting in the pew and the preacher behind the pulpit."

The word used for "itching", or "tickled" is "knetho". It is in the passive voice, referring to being tickled by someone else pleasurably. It is in the present tense, referring to continually seeking such stimulation.

It is a tragic state when those who name the name of Christ sink to this condition. But that's increasingly the time in which we live. Let us be diligent to hold fast to the truth.
