How would Roman Catholics react if the Pope was depicted as a silly frog in his mitre and robes? How would Muslims react if Mohammed was depicted as a grinning frog? Are Christians to excuse this with: “Let’s not be so serious, it’s just a little harmless fun. Besides, it’s contextualizing the Christmas story to the world. And they’re so cheery and cute, and actually displaying excitement at the birth of the frog/jesus, unlike those dour, solemn nativity sets of the past”?
