Brokenness

“And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied.” Ezra 9:3

I read from the book of Ezra at bedtime last night, and I was so moved by what I read, I jotted down some notes to share. Brothers and sisters in Christ, please consider the aforementioned verse in your heart this day.

On the note of personal brokenness, watch all six of these short videos, starting with part 1:

We’re ok with sin. It doesn’t bother us. Neither does it bother us if others sin.

We live in it’s environment every day. We watch it on tv in it’s glorified essence. We appauld it on the internet, especially in the area of pornography, and who know what else.

And it’s Christians that I am talking about. Those who are supposed to have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor 2v16

Those who are supposed to present their bodies a living sacrifice. Romans 12v1-2

Those who represent the Church as the body of Christ. Eph 1v22-23

What hope is there for the world, when we are just like them?

Well said, Doreen. Churches have intermarried with the world. They have taken on the world’s values, the world’s “ethics”, the world’s “morals”. And they aren’t just the “liberal” churches anymore that do this. It should grieve us that people are living in sin with no conscience. But it should grieve us far greater when those who call themselves Christians seemingly have no fear of Almighty God, allow “acceptable sins” in the churches, outright disregard God’s specific commands for Christians, and seemingly have no understanding of repentance or sanctification. What we must do is hold fast to God’s revealed truth, to daily follow and obey Christ Jesus the Lord, allowing Him to change us. The world is not looking for “cool dude Christians” who talk the talk, but who are no different than them. They must see the power of Christ displayed by changing lives miraculously to be like children of the most high God as described in His word. All our words mean nothing if we do not display changed lives.
