Oh Lord, forgive us for perverting your Eternal Gospel of Grace, and for treating your Word and your commands as light things!
Forgive us oh God for suffering those who teach a pleasant, easy-believism, and who espouse a greasy grace that salves mens’ scorched souls, soothing their cauterized consciences as they hurtle headlong into the abyss where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth, and where their worm dieth not, and the flame is not quenched!
Revive us, oh Lord! Whether it be by a gracious outpouring of Your Spirit that stems the evil tide of this age as was done in Ninevah, or be it by an outpouring of Your wrath and an outbreak of white hot persecution against Your saints as is prophesied for the last days, may Your holy and perfect will be done on earth, even as it is in heaven, and may Your Name be glorified above all things forever and evermore.
Great post, but also convicting! It is far too easy to forget that the life of man is but for a moment and soon vanishes away.
What do we do with the message of the gospel? Do we trivialize it, contextualize it, make it relevant so it appeals to the walking dead? GOD FORBID!
May we who minister the Word preach as to dying men! Let us not cozy up to them with a message that says, “We really do not care for you for eternity, we only care that you like us!”
