Quotes (528)

awpink.jpg The nature of Christ’s salvation is woefully misrepresented by the present-day “evangelist.” He announces a Savior from Hell, rather than a Savior from sin. So many are fatally deceived who wish to escape the lake of fire but have no desire to be delivered from their carnality and worldliness. The great Physician saves those who are sick of sin, who long to be delivered from its God-dishonoring works, and its soul-defiling pollutions.

  1. I like that quote! Very true. Too often Jesus is proclaimed as an insurance policy against hell, when He should be proclaimed as the Deliverer from sin and it’s results which is separation from (daily -and- eternally) our Creator. We are meant for fellowship with our Creator.

    Those who view Christ as only an eternal insurance policy who are missing out on a genuine, vibrant relationship with the One who made everything. Those folks want eternal security, but do want healing from the Great Physician; they don’t want to become more like Christ (Sanctified).

  2. Manfred says:

    As we are told each Sunday, repentance is the mark of one who is saved. God, through Christ Jesus, grants repentance to every one of His elect. One who has no grief over his own sin is one who is not indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

  3. fourpointer says:

    It is only by the Spirit of God I don’t ram every bumper that has one of those “Get out of Hell Free” stickers on it.

  4. Manfred says:

    @fourpointer,

    LOL! Reminds me of the story about the “youth pastor” of large church who had “the outline of a fish stuck on his car” and drove like a worldling. One day, as he came screeching to a halt in the church parking lot, an old lady of the church told him to take the fish off. When asked why, she told him that he was advertising for the Lord and driving as if was on Satan’s side.

    We who have been saved by grace are to walk in the light, so the name of the Lord will not be profaned among the pagans. I like to have a “Christian” symbol on my vehicle, to remind me in times of temptation that I am dragging the name of the Lord into whatever arrogant driving behavior temps me.

    I normally ride a motorcycle, so that physical vulnerability goes a long way in keeping me “humble” – on the outside.

    Manfred,

    Reminds me of when I used to drive I-75 to work every day, and I dare say most of the worst drivers (tailgaiters, speeders, cutting in-and-out of traffic) had a fish on their car.

    Sad.

  6. Paraphrase from Paul Washer sermon on the Cross of Christ:

    Paul Washer to Bible College student: “Yes, but what were you saved FROM?”

    Student: “From sin.”

    Washer: “Sin wasn’t going to chase you down and throw you into hell.”
