God of gods

I discovered this gem in a response to one of the posts here at defcon from a brother who frequents this site, Manfred. Thank you Manfred for bringing this to my attention by posting this in your response, it truly is inspiring!

  1. It is a decent video, but I need to be a little nitpicky. I don’t feel comfortable with the voice making “I” statements. I know most of the phrases were scriptural, but I don’t think anyone should speak as God. It’s the same reason I don’t like movies like Bruce Almighty (besides the fact that it’s Hollywood trash), we can easily begin to misrepresent God by making statements that don’t align with his character. The video would have been better had the voice been making “He” statements. Just a thought, for what it’s worth.

  2. Do you read the bible out loud? What do you do when you come to passages that say ‘I’ in reference to God? The ‘I’ emphasizes a singular God, a God who is like no other gods, who is exalted high above His creation.
I personally am comfortable with this video. I found nothing in it that misrepresents God in any way.
You cannot put a ‘face’ with person behind the voice, the vocal affects are merely to help drive home the purpose of this video [like when the bible says, 'Take your maidservant under your wing' Ruth 3:9 - this gives us a mental picture of God covering us, even though He is Spirit].
Everyone is certainly entitled to their own preferences and opinions! Yours is appreciated.

  3. Very powerful video. It reminds me of the powerful sermon by SM Lockridge called “That’s My King”.

The only thing I was hanging on my seat to hear in this video was the name of Jesus. Maybe I am being nitpicky too but in this day and age we need to be sure Jesus Christ is named as the Lord of lords, King of kings, very God of gods!

But I must confess, this video had me in tears as we rejoice in our great God and Savior!

    Soli Deo Gloria!

  4. Well said, Jay.

The video is admittedly powerful – and in no way do I mean to diminish the truth it conveys – but as I sat watching it I couldn’t help but wonder how many Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Oneness Pentecostals, etc., etc. would happily affirm 100% of the content of the piece and walk away praising their own peculiar “god” while justifying themselves in their hearts.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. – John 14:6

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. – John 3:18

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. – Matthew 28:18

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. – Matthew 7:23

    In Christ,
    CD

  5. Here is the video called “That’s My King” that Jay mentioned.

  6. What makes this video all the more remarkable is this tidbit: the pastor of the church (to which my male child of 25 belongs) which made this video was started a few years by a pop-culture MTV style youth minister who was not fit to be a pastor. But God (I love that phrase in the Scriptures!) reformed the man and set his feet on the narrow path, turning him away from the culture and toward the Lord Jesus. He now preaches the Truth that God is sovereign, man is wicked and sinful, and that Christ alone is able to save. Ah, it is wonderful to see how the Lord deals with His children! He will get glory from us or He will use the rocks. Let us never give Him cause to raise up rocks to praise Him.

  7. If you want the text of pastor Lockridge’s powerful testimony that wearymom provided, here ya go!
