Sounds like this familiar conversation (Stop me if you’ve heard this one):
“So, what kind of doctrine do you teach at your church?”
“Oh, we don’t teach doctrine! We just preach the love of Jesus!”
“Well, which Jesus?”
“What do you mean?”
“Do you teach the Jesus of the Bible? Or do you teach the Jesus of Mormonism, or the Jesus of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, or the Jesus of Islam?”
“Oh, we teach the Jesus of the Bible!”
“Then aren’t you, in a sense, teaching…..doctrine?”
[crickets chirping]
“Well…?”
“Pharisee! Stop judging!“
