I would be very offended by your comment–if I were a plank of wood. At least that plank is useful for something :)

Re: Barkley’s comment that we “need to go back and read the part about not judgin’ uttha people.” Yes, Chuck, let’s look at that, shall we? Matthew 7:1-5–”Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

See that, Chuck? We are to remove the speck from our brother’s eye. How do we do that? We judge between right and wrong (after we’ve cleaned up our own house first, that is). We don’t judge the person, we judge the lifestyle.

Ever notice how the people who claim to be experts about the Bible are the ones who have never read it themselves?

And doesn’t his opening comment about conservatives being “fake Christians”–isn’t he being judgmental? Methinks it might behoveth him to practice what he preaches.

“It’s wrong to judge other people, which is why I’ve judged those other people who judge others as ‘fake Christians’.”

I see, gotcha.

Barkley’s little bit of pontificating on that clip should remind us that me need to be clear and complete in our preaching and evangelism. People will hear what Barkley said and nod their heads in agreement just from the name recognition factor alone. We need to keep holding up the immovable absolutes of the Bible no matter how a humanistic cluture draws back from salt and light.
