Who is watching you?

Pretty good message from the heart of a child. It is so true that we as Christians are being watched. Our kids and our grandkids will be watching us to see if what we “say” we believe is really true in our lives.

I want to encourage each person to be a person of integrity.
When presented with the opportunity to present the gospel of Jesus Christ will you…
1. tell a story about yourself?
2. tell a bunch of jokes accompanied with a bunch of stories about yourself?
3. or will you tell people what they need to hear? The truth! The whole gospel message?

Our kids are watching us as parent, as leaders, and they are even watching the pastor’s. If pastor’s talk more about their own lives than they do about Jesus, then it really shows where their heart truly lies.

We should be preaching Christ and Him crucified!

It is the power of the gospel to change lives. We must not soften the gospel with stories about ourselves. I know some people will say that Jesus used parables. He did it so that His disciples would gain knowledge but that the truth would remain hidden to some. Herein lies the problem…
We are not commanded to go into all the world preaching parables about ourselves to all creatures in every land.

We are commanded to preach, read that again…
WE ARE COMMANDED TO PREACH the gospel to every creature.

Why not do it the way Jesus did? The way Paul did it? The way Peter did it? The way the other Disciples did it?

They all used the Law to convict the person of their sins. The Law was used to break the heart of the self righteous person and then they used God’s grace to humble the broken heart. It is a wonderful example of how to reach a lost soul.

Psalm 19:7
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.

Romans 3:19-20
Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Romans 7:7
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”

Unless someone knows they have sinned against an Almighty, Holy God, then they will never come to a saving knowledge of exactly WHY Jesus died on the cross.

All the story telling in the world about your family will do nothing to further the Kingdom of God. It is time we get back to the Bible and preach it unashamedly. Christ and Him crucified!

People are watching us in how we live our lives. They will also see how important Jesus is to us by the way we “present” Him to the nations. When we die to self, we no longer preach about “us” but rather we preach Jesus and Him alone!

About brianculver

I am a born again Christian. I became a pastor back in 1996 and can honestly tell you that I was not truly saved while I was preaching. This blog will challenge you to examine yourself in light of Scripture to see if you are actually in the faith. It is my desire to help you grow as a Christian. To help you understand the need for obedience to God's Word, the need for repentance of your sins and the need to put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone! I am available for preaching in your church and for training your class on evangelism.

  1. Thank you for posting this video Brian. This was a very convicting reminder (and an emotional one for me too).

  2. our kids grow up so fast, it seems like just yesterday that my son was 9 years old and he is now 25! I am very proud of him in that, he loves God and is training his two boys to love God too. He has a wonderful family, a God-fearing family! I know he was watching me on everything that I did as he was growing up. I hope all fathers realize the importance of doing the right thing, when it comes to our integrity!

  3. That was such a good reminder! It’s not just dads that the children are watching but the moms also. Most of my children are almost grown and I have to wonder daily if we are being the example we should be to our children.
