I would like to recommend the following information to our readers. VCP is a group of national Liberian pastors who are striving to plant churches throughout the interior of Liberia, West Africa. They are in need of prayer and financial support.
For more information on this group, you may go their website at Village Church Planters.
VILLAGE – VCP is targeting the interior of Liberia. While the statistics are true, it is still sad and disheartening to note 99% of people who acquire formal Bible School training anticipate establishing ministry in the built-up urban areas of Liberia. This has resulted in an almost total desertion of the interior or village areas. Today, churches planted in the 1970’s and 1980’s are without pastors with only lay men in charge. Of all Christian work in Liberia, less than 20% is carried on in the villages. Large village areas left without any biblical local churches include: Lofa, Cape Mount, Bomi, Gbarpolu, Sinoe, Grand Kru and Maryland.
CHURCH – Upon the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost, our Lord commissioned and commanded us to establish healthy New Testament local churches in all parts of the world until He returns at the end of the age. Being under this banner, we believe two main aspects are in mind:
1) Church-plants should be found in all major villages of the interior;
2) To provide sound Biblical training, on a mobile basis, to those spiritual leaders identified among the people who are not in the position to acquire campus-based training.
PLANTERS – We have one Master Shepherd who will reward all men accordingly. We are volunteer laborers in the HARVEST helping to plant the seed of the true Gospel of Christ for the Kingdom’s sake.
LIBERIA – Located in West Africa, Liberia has only recently survived a 15 year civil war which completely destroyed the infrastructure of the country. Today an estimated population of over 3 million souls need to hear the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ. Will you help us reach our people? You can go in person, by purse and by prayer.
