Some may be wondering at this point, what a golden calf has to do with the worship of music. Like the account which took place in the wilderness, I believe music in the church has become a golden calf. Instead of giving due reverence and worship to a holy and righteous God, the vast majority seem to be giving reverence to the worship itself.

At the bottom of this issue is the all-pervasive and inescapable reality of the One True and Living God’s absolute and utter holiness. Mere mortal men can’t even begin to grasp the magnitude of this indescribable divine attribute and it’s because of His unspeakable separateness and holiness that we ought to tremble in fear and awe and demonstrate the utmost respect before Him lest we be found guilty of offering strange fire thereby heaping condemnation upon our own heads.
Cavalier, flippant, fleshy, man-centered “praise” so-called which in truth (as TDP has correctly pointed out) is idolatry as such is an abomination before Him.
