  1. Down but not out, welcome back Apprising!

  2. Great job to all who volunteered with the new design and getting it back online so quickly.

  3. Thank you for all of your support brothers. This was a tyring time and my family in Christ helped me so much with your cover fire.

The Lord was gracious to provide Sam Guzman and Renee Dixon who volunteered their time through the weekend to get that new site online so quickly.

  4. Welcome back Ken. Nice new look to the site too.

  5. Dave C,

Thanks. Sam Guzman came up with this look and design. My part was: Hey, I really like it. :-)

  6. Dear Ken:

1). I really like the new design; it looks great. DefCon is also getting a new look here in the next couple days to celebrate our 100,000th hit since beginning 3 1/2 months ago.

2). I think the web-hosting company who picked you up should get a plug here, a round of applause, and business from those who frequent this blog that are looking for a web-hosting company. We need to support businesses like that.

3). And I too, Ken, am seeing that “there are very rough spiritual waters dead ahead” as you said in your e-mail. I have been seeing increased hostility toward Christians in the West. The handwriting is on the wall, the storm is on the horizon. It is frightening. All the more reason we need to encourage one another. It won’t be long before what we’re doing becomes illegal . . . it won’t be long.

    Even so, come Lord Jesus.

    - The Pilgrim

  7. Just want to agree with everything in Pilgrim’s point #3 there in post 7. First we must stay close to the Lord Jesus, abiding in Him. Then, we can encourage one another, even while continuing to proclaim the (illegal)gospel in the soon coming days ahead.

  8. Just out of curiosity, wasn’t IPOWER the same host that deleted slice a while back?

  9. It is a joy to know that Apprising is back and looking real nice at that :-D. Indeed the words of the Psalmist are true:

Psa 124:6 Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth!

I wish Pastor Silva all the best with Apprising.org!

  10. I sincerely appreciate this. :-)

And Dave C, you are correct. Ingrid and I were talking about that oddity just the other day.

  11. Another cat and dog fight is yet taking place with the usual suspects often referred to as “discernment” ministries, some of whom I have spoken of in my article “Gift of Discernment or Gossip” on my blog. Somewhere in between “he said, she said, tit for tat” lies the truth. This certainly does nothing to further the Gospel of Christ, and puts all believers in a bad light everywhere. The big winner here is satan and his demons and non believers, who must be having a great laugh over this one.

To witness the strife and discord Ken Silva and Ingrid (and their supporters have involved themselves in, “all in the name of “discernment” for Christ, by not doing the right thing by taking the offensive material from his website down, a simple request of Mr. Abanes,go to Richard Abanes site here http://richardabanes.wordpress.com/2008/07/26/more-arguments-ingrid-schlueter-speaks/#comment-270 and read the nasty, mean spirited remarks from Ken Silva’s supporters and then read the remarks from Richard Abanes. How godly is this? Wouldn’t it just have been better for Ken Silva of Apprising Ministries, who claims he is a pastor, to swollow his pride, take on the humility of Christ and the Apostle Paul, and take the offensive material down and be in compliance w/the Lord’s Word?

I will quote a few scriptures concerning quarreling and causing strife among Christians, which are very pertinent to what is happening here:

    Galatians 5:19-21
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

    Proverbs 10:12
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.

    2 Timothy 2:23-25
Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know they breed quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.

Ken Silva started this entire controversy, and strife and division among other Christians by attacking the personal character publicly, instead of critiquing Mr. Abanes doctrine in my honest opinion when he could have prevented it all; he made an attempt to assassinate the character of Richard Abanes, whom I don’t even know and choose to have his own site taken down rather than swallow his pride and apologize by taking the offensive and objectionable material down; and is now playing the role of a persecuted martyr. Additionally, Ken Silva has orchestrated more discord and strife. How biblical is that. He tried to assassinate the character of Ray Comfort because he disagreed w/him. Ken Silva is not God Almighty and people do not have to answer to him. When are these people who call themselves discernment ministries, all in the name of Christ, going to learn that the public internet is not a forum where they cannot assassinate the character of someone they disagree with and will be held accountable? This makes all of Christianity look bad. Where is the salt and light here? Disagree fine. Point out errors using the Bible fine. But to assassinate another’s character as these two voices in particular attempt to do, instigating strife, is just plain wrong and unbiblical. I urge all to read the remarks on Mr. Abanes blog to gain more insight and truth of what actually happened here before just hearing one side of the story. Like I said, I don’t even know Mr. Abanes, and I am in no way endorsing any of his private writings; but after reading the remarks from Ken Silva and Ken Silva’s followers, who are “supposedly Christian “people, I certainly could never defend Ken Silva and his cohorts.

And to keep this controversy brewing, Ken Silva, rather the putting it behind him and moving forward, has defiantly started it all over again on his “new site” even against the wise biblical counsel from the above scriptures. Is this the type of pastor you would have teach your children and family?

  12. Toni,

All the facts surrounding the Abanes/Silva dust up are matters of very public record and anyone who’s interested in spending a few minutes to research the entire situation from both sides of the issue can easily do so.

What I find disturbing about your comment isn’t that you disagree with Ken Silva’s actions, but rather that you engage in the very same “personal” and “character” based speculations and judgments which necessarily result in the sowing of selfsame “strife” and “discord” that you yourself decry.

You also managed to bring up the Ray Comfort Situation wherein I, as you well know, vigorously opposed Ken Silva and Ingrid Schlueter and their “supposedly Christian cohorts” as you flippantly refer to them.

But the difference here Toni is that I, evidently unlike you, can separate the abstract from the personal and defend a position from scripture as opposed to resorting to ad hominem cheap shots and questioning my opponents’ commitment to Christ.

I’m not sure if you’ve realized it or not Toni, but the content of your comment here demonstrates the both the character and methodology that you’re railing against.

You obviously have a problem with Ken Silva and that’s between you, Ken, and the Lord but it has no place here, and in fact your personal beef with Ken Silva is unwelcome here.

Please be advised that I will allow your comment to stand “as is” as a testimony Matt 7:4-5, but you should also understand that as of now you have been put on notice that I will not tolerate future comments of this kind from you at DefCon.

‘Til He returns or calls me home,
    CD

  13. Apparently CD, you missed my message completely, again. Truth cuts both ways, but self-righteous double standards such as you represent here have no place in Christianity.

  14. Consider this your second and final admonishment, Toni. Please improve your comportment if you wish to continue to be granted the privilege of commenting here.

    In Him,
    CD

  15. Actually, I have nothing more to say to you CD, as I think my previous posts says it all… Oh, yea, there is one more thing I forgot to say… that ugly face you have painted to my name is a disgrace, and it really doesn’t suit me at all so the next time I visit, I expect something much more suitable. I apologize if the truth is so offensive to you, CD. With that, I shall leave you to your intolerance. Bye Bye!

  16. Wow, Toni. You sound like the guy who made this comment on another post.

And that “face” that you’re so offended by is self-generated by WordPress for those who do not sign in with an avatar. So your beef would be with WordPress, not CD.

And don’t worry about the next time you visit. Based on your rude intolerant “tolerance,” there will be no next time.

    - The Pilgrim

  17. O, please forgive me as I didn’t mean to be rude in my last post. I was only joking. Can you people take a joke? “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”

I said what I came to say, and I meant it from my heart. I will not bother you again because I can’t have a smily face.

Many blessings to all of you over here.

    From Toni

  18. Toni,

It is Mr. Abanes who escalated this situation. He has never once explained what was so offensive in Pastor Silva’s article that got his hackles in an uproar. He has never explained how his delicate ego was crushed by Pastor Silva’s words, Nor why he felt the need to write Pastor Silva’s ISP and threaten legal action.

Oh, that’s right. Abanes didnt threaten legal action. He simply threatened to turn the matter over to his lawyers. Um, big deal, right? He was going to contact his lawyers. I would ask, what were his lwayers going to do? Sit on the issue? Why does one contact a lawyer? If anyone is being disingenuous in this matter, it is Richard Abanes, Chief Cardinal to Pope Warren.
