I got a response from them. He said that he wasn’t there, but he did recognize some of the guys he’s preached with.

I’ve watched quite a few of their videos, and I’ve looked at their website. There are a few issues I would disagree with them on (like King James Onlyism), and at first their methods seem way out there, but when you think about it, it’s pretty easy to make a biblical case for what they’re doing. I’m not going to question the ministry God has called them to.

I’m certainly not going to defend the guys in the article you cited. I think they made a mistake in carrying over what might be a proper tactic at a gay pride parade to a Mormon convention.

On a related note, I read my local paper today which contained an article about Joel Osteen filling an arena in San Antonio. What really broke my heart was reading ebullient attendees citing not Scripture, but the specific number of which of Osteen’s sermons brought them the most hope: “‘He’s very inspirational,’ said Mike Dickinson, 42, who cited sermon No. 309, on loyalty, as among his favorites.” Itching ears, indeed.
