Australians Arrested for Preaching the Gospel

Two open-air preachers, on Australia’s Gold Coast, who have been preaching in the same location for two years were arrested last Sunday, April 13. I certainly don’t intend to liken their situation to Christians in other countries who are being martyred, or have no freedom, but for this to happen in a free country like Australia is shocking to me. The men responded in a manner I could only hope to if I was in the same situation–witnessing to the police and fellow prisoners.

You can see their story in their own words here: Operation 513 Battle Log

One Response to Australians Arrested for Preaching the Gospel

This is my first visit to this blog- I found it by way of a link on another blog. I may not get back here very soon, but I wanted to make a comment on this article.
I find it so refreshing to see Christians joyfully suffering on behalf of Christ! Surely the Lord wanted some of those in jail to hear the Gospel, and if these dear men had a different attitude, the ones in jail would never have heard what they did.
So many Christians today are under the impression that we are not supposed to suffer injustice, offense or persecution on this earth- instead, when we are offended we sue, or lobby, or write letters, or make angry statements, etc. But suffering gladly?
Not so much. We seem to think that it is our job to make the world act like Christians when they can’t possibly- but then we won’t act like Christians in counting it all joy when we suffer persecution or even mild offense. No wonder the world is not impressed with us, and sees us as just a bunch of bullies, set on forcing the world to do our bidding. I thank God for these men, and pray if I were ever in a similar situation, I would do the same thing.
